Russian authorities have detained a 26-year-old individual accused of orchestrating a fraudulent crypto mining scheme that defrauded 100 victims of 270 million rubles ($3.2 million). The suspect allegedly lured investors by promoting a "mining hotel" promising passive income, only to sell the ASIC mining equipment handed over by victims and misappropriate funds intended for additional hardware purchases.

Two accomplices remain at large as police continue questioning victims and pursue the criminal fraud case. This incident echoes a 2022 case where perpetrators stole 2 million rubles through a fake mining hosting operation.
